Dear Friends,

I realize how busy all of you are this time of year but please take a minute to read the following note from my wife, Maggie. She works at HLE and they have put together the 1st annual HLE Diaper Drive. I will be supporting their efforts and encourage all of you to do so, as well. Donations can be dropped off either at our store in Covington Plaza or at Hamil, Lehman, and England (6404 Constitution Drive).

Thank you for your consideration and Merry Christmas and Happy Hanukkah to you and yours.

Sincerely,

Chris

Hello All,

With the Christmas holiday fast approaching, I was just thinking how fortunate I am and how lucky I am to have all that I do.  I recently read an article about how there are so many families in our community who are having to choose daily between buying diapers and feeding the family.  The article also said that there are babies who are being changed only once or twice a day, so that the diapers last longer. Being a Mom and a Grandma, this breaks my heart.  I cannot imagine having to make either of those choices. There are many wonderful organizations in Fort Wayne that distribute diapers to families in need. Well, I would like to have the 1st annual HLE Diaper Drive. At A Hope Center, they have a program called Earn While you learn. There is a little explanation of that below.

“Earn While You Learn,” allows moms and dads opportunity to learn about prenatal care, infant care, child development, parenting skills, budgeting, life skills, relationship skills, and spiritual growth. As an incentive for that learning, clients can earn essential maternity and baby items such as diapers, clothing, formula, cribs, and car seats. Many enter the program with the incentives in mind, but young moms and dads often stay in the program with relationship in mind… a relationship with an encouraging advocate who often inspires them to grow. This past year we had 756 individuals be a part of EWYL, 211 men and 545 women.

A Hope Center has distributed 31,104 diapers- most collected through diaper drives. They said that what they need most is diapers in all sizes Newborn -size 6. (especially larger sizes 3-6 and pull-ups), diaper wipes and diaper ointments. Any brand or quantity is appreciated.

So, if you would like to help in this effort, you can bring in any of the products I mentioned or if you’d rather, I will also accept cash or checks and I will buy diapers and wipes. I am going to collect through the whole month of December and deliver all donations right after the New Year. Checks should be made out to “A Hope Center”.

Thank you so much.

Maggie Lambert
