Today we want to talk a little bit about Samuelsohn, one of our most popular brands here at Christopher James Menswear in Fort Wayne, Indiana. We love Samuelsohn and think you should too.

Samuelsohn is one of the best made-to-measure menswear manufactures in North America, and has been an evangelist for quality and attention to detail since it began in 1923 in Canada. The company’s slogan is, “Not how many, but how fine.”

And indeed, they walk the walk. Every Samuelsohn suit and sport coat is fully canvased for durability, comfort and style (they make pants, too), and they have more than 500 luxurious fabrics for you to choose from. Their designers and merchandisers choose fabrics from European mills, and their palette includes fine wools from Italy and Great Britain, and silks, camelhairs, cashmeres and other rare and exotic fibers.

As warmer weather starts to trickle in here in Fort Wayne, Ind., we crave ditching our heavy coats, structured suits and thick-soled shoes for clothes and accessories that allow for more irreverence and freedom. We are inspired to care less about formalities and to show our lighter, casual sides.

But, we still want to look sharp, of course.

This is why we love Robert Talbott’s Spring 2014 collection. It is the perfect combination of crisp and cool, and we’re excited to share it with the dapper men of Fort Wayne.

The brand has kept their classic patterns like the windowpane and houndstooth check, but colored them with earthier, more grounded tones like slate gray, tan, and dusty orange. “More organic colors are big this spring, and will be big all year, in fact,” says Chris Lambert, owner of Christopher James Menswear. Our Spring Trunk Show is Happening Today!

Today, Christopher James Menswear in Fort Wayne, Ind. is hosting a spring trunk show, partly in hopes of making the warm weather come a little sooner, and partly (and most importantly) to show you new apparel from four top-notch designers that will definitely be big this season: Coppley, Scabal, Robert Talbott, and Allen Edmonds.

Here’s a little bit about the four brands we will be showcasing today:

Coppley

Few things are better than knowing you are wearing a suit that fits like a glove. If you want something tailor made, Coppley is the brand you want to work with. They are one of the best when it comes to made-to-measure suits. They have more than 500 luxury fabrics to choose from too. Come see what’s new with Coppley this season!

Scabal

Anyway, CJM will be debuting A.E.’s newest, highest-quality dress shoes.

Sweet Time at a SWEET EVENT!

Good time was had at our Sweet Clothes, Sweet Cars and Fine Cigars Trunk Show to benefit Camp Whatcha-Wanna-Do.

Scabal, the best in fine fabrics, will be at CJM in Fort Wayne

On the topic of dressing right, a lot is said about fit, but not enough about an equally important facet of good style, which is: quality fabric. Seriously. A stellarly-cut suit that looks like it was made from a trash bag just looks like a trash bag. Real talk.

Anyway, because good fabric is so important, CJM is excited that a representative from Scabal, manufacturer of some of the world’s rarest, most luxurious and high-end fabrics, will be in the Christopher James Menswear on March 14-15, to talk about the makings of quality cloth. For instance, a good suit is not just a piece of clothing. It is an investment. It can influence how far you get up the corporate ladder, or whether you land that next big deal. So, with any investment, you do your research. You wouldn’t buy a car without inspecting it from hood to trunk, right? It shouldn’t be any different with a suit, and fabric is one detail you don’t overlook (instead of MPGs, you are looking at super 150s. Same concept, really).

Scabal makes the highest quality suiting fabric in the biz, and custom suits that are both breathable and durable. Some of their fabrics are even woven with diamonds. No joke. They call it their “Diamond Chip” cloth because tiny diamond fragments are intricately woven into the cloth, giving it a subtle sheen. It’s pretty amazing. Save the Date: October 12th, 2012

Save the date for our upcoming Fall Trunk show, our biggest trunk show of the season!

This two day event on October 12th and 13th will feature some of our best lines, and some great local businesses as well.

On October 12th from 4:00 to 8:00 pm we will be celebrating with food and drink from Casa’s with our good friend Jim Casaburo, as well as enjoying the lovely sounds of Alicia Pyle and two Philharmonic members. SweetCar’s will be on hand to show off a selection of their best car’s and our neighbors at Riegal’s will have their doors open showcasing their finest cigars.

We are really excited about his event and hope that you bring out your “sweet car” to share at the party. We will have the parking lot blocked off, but will be able to open it up for customers to bring their cars to show into the coned off area. If you are interested in bringing your car and having an information sheet about it put out next to the car then please email Max before hand so he can prepare the information sheet. Of course no Christopher James trunk show would be complete without a charitable tie in. Representatives from Lendingahand.net will be on hand to talk about their partner charities. We will be donating 5% of our sales from this weekend to the Lendingahand.net partner charity of your choice. You can find out more information about them on their Facebook.

Also joining us for the trunk show will be multiple reps here to show their complete fall lines. Jeff, our rep from Hickey Freeman and Coppley, will be on hand to help with fitting and ordering of in stock and custom suits. Kevin from Allen Edmonds will be here with their fall shoes as well as a selection of other styles. Larry from Robert Talbott will be here with their full fall line.

We are also very excited to welcome on Friday only VK Nagrani and Edward Armah. Many of you are familiar with VK’s “famous” socks that we carry as well as Edwards bow-ties and pocket rounds. Both men will be in store to show off some of their product as well as to meet the people that make their products a success!

Although this is a two day trunk show event the party and the cars will only be going on Friday from 4:00 to 8:00 pm so mark your calendars to come out and see some sweet clothes, sweet cars and fine cigars!
